TUESDAY NIGHT: Clear and Cold
Lows: 18-26
Winds: Northwest 5-10 mph
Clear skies will make for great stargazing, but it will be bitterly cold, as low temperatures fall into the teens in the Shenandoah Valley and 20s elsewhere. Frost is likely.Â
WEDNESDAY: Partly Sunny, Breezy
Highs: 40-45
Winds: Southwest 5-15, Gusts 25 mph +
After a freezing cold start, high temperatures will climb back into the 40s. Our average high for this time of year is 52. Similar to Tuesday, it will be breezy at times, making for wind chills in the 30s during the afternoon. Clouds will increase late in the day, as a strong cold front approaches.Â
THURSDAY: WIND ALERT
Early Morning Rain/Snow Showers
Partly Sunny, Windy
Highs: 43-48
Wind Chills: 30s to 20s
Winds: West 10-20, Gusts to 40 mph +
A robust cold front will pass through early in the morning bringing a chance for rain and snow. Air temperatures will be above freezing, so roads will likely just be wet. There isn’t a lot of moisture with this system. Only a few hundredths of precipitation is expected. The bigger impact will be the winds. Winds will howl through the afternoon – gusting over 40 mph, at times.Â
FRIDAY: Mostly Sunny, Breezy
Highs: 35-40
Winds:Â Northwest 10-20 mph
Cold temperatures continue to round out the work and school week. Highs may struggle to reach 40 degrees for many neighborhoods.Â
